Our story
On a late summer's afternoon in 2017, Alexandra walked through the bustling city of Caltagirone. The sun perfectly framed the colorful blue, white and green tiles lining the city, creating the illusion of a Sicilian utopia frozen in time. It was there that she discovered the history, beauty and craftsmanship that defines this vibrant city - the ceramics. These pieces, at every corner in Caltagirone, embody everything romantic about the Mediterranean, and now she can share their story with you.

At Calacuni, we are (fun) romantics at heart. Our passion is to bring undiscovered artisan ceramic products into people’s lives. Behind every piece at Calacuni there is a story: A story of an artist, a story of an ancient technique, and a story of a romantic mix of cultures.
Our ceramics embody traditions that date back to 2400 BC, exhibiting techniques and styles from the many cultures that inhabited the island. Each piece is handcrafted and deeply rooted in time.
